Mark the Evangelist (Coptic: Hebrew: מרקוס‎; Greek: Μάρκος), was said to be the disciple and interpreter of Saint Peter, follower and Apostle of Jesus Christ. According to Eusebius Mark composed a gospel embodying what he had heard Peter preach.

Tradition identifies him with the John Mark mentioned as a companion of Saint Paul in Acts, who later is said to have become a disciple of Saint Peter. Mark was believed to have traveled to Alexandria, Egypt and formed a church. He became its first bishop and founder of Christianity in Africa. He died in the eighth year of Nero and was buried there, Annianus succeeding him.

His feast day is celebrated on April 25, and his symbol is the lion.

what's the real translation of the book of Isaiah 7:14? in hebrew Bible and the New Testament?
Q. virgin or young woman and why does the gospel of matthew used the virgin instead of young woman? because my Bible in the OT says young woman but it says evangelists quoted the septuagint and this OT is taken from the masoretic text but the quotations from the NT about OT are taken from septuagint but it looks different.. why didn't quote the masoteric text the evangelists like luke, matthew, mark, john and saint paul as well.. it's the septuagint against the masoteric text? what's older? btw Yahweh is not used in th real hebrew Bible.. that name was invented by someone.. YHVH is the name of God but we used Adonay or the Lord..

A. 1) what's the real translation of the book of Isaiah 7:14? in hebrew Bible and the New Testament? OK, I have researched this. What you are concerned with here (obviously) is the Hebrew word " 'almah ". Let's talk about it a little. Mat 1:23 is the location in the New Testament that quotes Isa 7:14. The author of Mat clearly quotes from the Greek Septuagint in his work in preference to the Hebrew text. In the Greek Septuagint, the word used in Isa 7:14 undeniably includes the meaning "virgin". Therefore, we KNOW and recognize that the author of Mat quoted his source accurately. So, now, the question becomes: did the translators of the Septuagint translate the word " 'almah " accurately? The answer to this is "yes" - but is it a *p [cont.]

A. Persecution of Christians has been going on since its inception for almost 2,000 years. In many cases it is the governmental powers who oppose the preaching work of Christians. But, oftentimes it is religious affiliations themselves that are the culprit who stir up the government citing false charges against true Christians. Jesus Christ himself was arrested and put to death on false charges of sedition. When Christianity was established, the apostles and disciples of Christ also were persecuted for Christ's namesake. Peace loving Christians ( those ones who saw the hypocrisy of religious leaders who claimed to be representing God and exposed their erroneous teaching) were classified as heretics.
