Luke the Evangelist (Ancient Greek: Λουκᾶς Loukas) was an Early Christian writer who the Church Fathers such as Jerome and Eusebius said was the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.

The Roman Catholic Church venerates him as Saint Luke, patron saint of physicians, surgeons, students, butchers, and artists; his feast day is 18 October.

Did Matthew's chronology of time/event differs from what was written in the book of Luke/Mark?
Q. I am clearly referring with the chronology of time and event from the book of Matthew. If you are to compare the narrative of Mark and Luke with his testimony, would you be saying that they enrich each others writing, or totally contradicting the testified chronology of Matthew? Consiquently, the best answer that you have given to me says nothing about chronology of time and event. The reason I asked this question is to enrich the authenticity of evangelist Mark and Luke. I am totally convinced that the two belongs to the eyewitness period, but I stand with the fact that both of them witnessed nothing, for they are absolutely not an eyewitness to Jesus. (Luke 1:2-3)

A. According to Amy-Jill Levine, in Matthew (and the two other synoptic Gospels), Jesus talks more about the Kingdom of God than about himself, unlike John in which Jesus identifies himself as the true vine; the bread of life; the way, the truth and the life. Another difference is that while in Matthew and the two other synoptic gospels, Jesus teaches primarily using short parables or short sayings, in John he teaches using extended speeches. Levine states that each of the three synoptic gospels offer a distinct portraits of Jesus. For example, "Matthew has Jesus' earthly mission restricted to the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel' (Matt 15:24, see also 10:5-6) and emphasizing obedience to and preservation of biblical law. Mark however opens… [cont.]

Is this correct? Christians please help! >_
Q. is the info in this correct? and when typing "Gospel" when should it and when should it not be capitalized? The term Gospel means good news. A Gospel is a message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation. There are four Gospels, each one is written by Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. These four men were all evangelist, people who traveled to preach the word of God. Mark wrote his Gospel wit the intention to broadcast Jesus good works. He started writing his Gospel about three years after the death of Jesus. Mark s Gospel mainly focused on the last 3 weeks of Jesus life, and in it declares Jesus Son of God, and a messenger of God. Mark was clearly a man who loved Jesus and wished to spread His word. Although Mark began… [cont.]

A. The problem is that the Gospels are *attributed* to Matthew, Luke, Mark, and John. When the bible was put together, there were other gospels that were attributed to Judas, Mary, Thomas, etc., but these were judged to have been written too many years after the death of Jesus to be credible. The problem is, the four Gospels that have been accepted were also written many years after their 'authors' had passed away. These other gospels are called Gnostic gospels. Some people refer to them as heretical texts! What's interesting is that some of these writings turn up in the Koran, like the story of Jesus turning mud into sparrows found in the gospel of Thomas. This isn't a biblical story but it was taught to me when I was a small child. … [cont.]

Are Christians hypocrites???
Q. answer to texjade23: I am not a Christian. Think what you told me. You told that the verse implied that somebody can hate his family in the sense that they are sinners? But doesn't it tell--Hate the sin not the sinner??? You contradict here. Also, about the HAIR thing. It's quite clear. Read the Bible.

A. Many Christians are hypocrites, of course. Unfortunately, this "question" is concerned more with insulting Christianity than with hoping to reform erring individual Christians. The "question" contains many outright lies and gross distortions about the bible and true Christianity. Here are a few Scriptural thoughts to consider: (Romans 16:17) Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them. (2 Corinthians 4:4-6) The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers (Philippians 2:14-15) In among a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you are shining as illuminators in the world (1 Timothy 6:3-5) If any man teaches other… [cont.]
