Why would somebody want to follow evangelists like Billy Graham around the country just for the altar calls?
Q. I read that there were some people who follow traveling evangelists around just to participate in the altar calls. Giving their hearts to the lord, over and over. Why?

A. It's sort of an addiction. You get wrapped up in the emotional exploitation, get a cathartic high from it, and need to feel it again and again.

What's the difference between Goebbels and the Evangelists?
Q. Apparently Joseph the master carpenter and stepfather to some bastard took his full term wife on a ride around the Judean hills on a 5 day donkey trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem in mid-winter. I've been there at that time of year and I can tell you no loving father/husband would contemplate any such action. The bigger the lie, the longer and harder you have to tell it.

Why are TV evangelists pretty much only an American phenomenon?
Q. Is there a reason why they don't seem to appear in other English speaking countries?
Asked by insighthere - Fri Aug 29 11:53:08 2008 - - 26 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The need to belong may be instinctual. Desperation to do so may be found in weak individuals...who seek faith, which they may see as a form of club...therefore it is a saleable commodity...hence the massive number of evangelists, in many countries, who seem to wish to use these weaknesses for financial gain...dispicable.

Why do all the TV evangelists end up in jail?
Q. I just read a little news story on Tony Alamo and how he was arrested for transporting 6 (yes, SIX) underage girls across state lines for sexual purposes. I don't understand! He is supposed to be a religious leader and yet he is behaving in this horrible manner. Why do so many religious leaders, especially those on TV, end up like this?

A. "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." It's too easy for these guys to go from being a petitioner of God to being a messenger of God to being petty gods themselves. Eventually, they go too far. Then we nail them. You'd think the sheep, er, flock would catch on, but they never do.

Do you believe in miracle healings by evangelists or televangelists?
Q. Why? What do you think of those healers??? You believe in science or God?

A. Scammers Scammers Scammers...it's all about the money. Big business in the name of religion. Look at the latest on Oral Roberts' son and his wife. I don't believe in organized religion but do believe that science and spirituality go together. Organized religion is just crowd control and manipulation. And they rip off all the poor people who send their money in faithfully. What a crock. Oh, and prayer...with healing...I believe that thoughts are energy and it does work...which involves some scientific principal.

A. Luke was a doctor. His exceptional use of literary devices and his general writing skill also show that he was a highly educated, well-traveled person. Matthew was a tax collector. His understanding of Hebrew, in addition to Koine Greek and Aramaic reveals that he was well-educated and probably had at least some levitic training as well. John was going to become a fisherman, but he was very young when he met Jesus and never got into that career really. His main job throughout his life was as one of the first episkopoi of the nascent church, leading his small community. Mark is the most enigmatic of the evangelists, but also the earliest to write. Which theological colleges do TV evangelists graduate from? What is the end qualification, degree? masters?
Q. Is there any control in the USA as to the quality of theological training?
Asked by Oh, Hai - Fri May 29 20:14:53 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There is no federal or state control over theological colleges or seminaries. They are free to award degrees without any outside monitoring of the quality of education or the level of achievement. There is an interesting section at the bottom of this page "explaining" why they do not need to be accredited and why god and the bible allows them to award degrees as they see fit.

Why do Tele Evangelists preach the "prosperity gospel"?
Q. In the late 90's when all the other preachers were on the "name it and claim it" kick one ,David Wilkerson, warned of hard times ahead. Telling everyone to not get in debt etc. I feel that others should be more honest with their sermons the feel good preaching may draw huge donations but it does nothing to help the congregations they are obligated to God to oversee. What do you think?

A. You are right. We can't all be rich, if we were, no one would be rich. I think it is mostly for the donations. The result to people who do not become rich is that they feel they are somehow less faithful or "less Christian."

They are no different. Why should we expect muslim countries to separate the mosque from the state and we dont practice what we preach. We long ago had solved that problem by keep the church out of government affairs. Mainly because there are too many doctrines .Which one do we follow? Quite frankly I would like to send those SOB'sto live in what they love - Israel. They can pretend that they are one of the lost tribes. For truly they are LOST!

A. I never watch media Evangelists. I think they only care for the money. They're not even true believers. And as for the topic of abortion, I am most definitely pro-choice. I think a woman life cannot be ruined for one single bad decision (or sometimes, not even a "decision", really). Of course, this must come with proper education as to how to prevent pregnancies effectively. But once everybody's minds are alert, I would legalise abortion.

Looking for title of a humorous book about how to win arguments with door-to-door evangelists.?
Q. I saw a book on either Amazon or Borders a couple of weeks ago. It was a work of humor along the lines of Dave Barry's humor (but it wasn't by him). I can't remember the author. The book was about "how to win arguments with door-to-door evangelists." Or maybe it was "preachers" instead of "evangelists." I didn't write the title down because I thought it would be easy to find again--I was wrong. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows what the title is; I want it for a holiday gift.
