How do you respond to panhandling from drunken bums? How do you respond to public evangelism?
Q. Is there a difference in your response to, say, a religious person running around trying to press tiny Bibles into your hand, and a wasted guy asking for spare change at a street corner? How do you respond to each? If your response is different, why?
Asked by CAustin - Fri Dec 5 14:57:21 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Take the tiny Bible and put it in your pocket and when a homeless person asks for spare change, give it to him along with the Bible.

How many will admit that we too often pass the buck to the evangelist, when it comes to evangelism?
Q. We are commanded to preach the gospel to every creature, but do we exempt ourselves, and leave it to others?
Asked by Very much in love with God. - Thu Nov 12 19:34:35 2009 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, considering that Bill Bright did report that only 2% of the church in America actively share their faith with others, I'd say it happens way to often. Evangelism is everyone's role, The evangelist is just way more dedicated to it, but he also teaches people how to share their faith, as well as many other things. EDIT: To the dude that said that the Great Commission was only a command for the apostles... If that is true, then Christianity would had died with them. In reality, that is a command to all Christians, and that is how it has been viewed every since Jesus gave the orders.

Is evangelism a substitute for morality?
Q. It's common to say that the overriding issue in Christianity is that people aren't saved, but it sometimes seems to be an excuse for sin. For instance, i've seen intentional deception and greed in evangelism on numerous occasions. Therefore, i want to ask you who are saved, forgetting any kind of issue of evangelism, how has Christ helped you to avoid sin? I'm not interested in the issue of grace rather than works, i'm just asking for specific examples of how He has "made you a better person", without reference to any evangelical or formally worship-based activity.

Is evangelism and evangelicalism the same thing?
Q. I am supposed to be doing a school report on the Second Great Awakening in America... The teacher has both terms used in different scenarios so I am not sure which I am supposed to report on, but maybe they are the same?
Asked by everybody_h3rtz - Mon Nov 17 12:51:58 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, they are not the same things. Evangelism, is going out into an unrepentant element of society preaching and teaching the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Evangelicalism- is a term loosely referring to a rise in the number of Evangelical Churches within the Body of Christ.

A. Much of it depends upon how large an area you are wanting to cover and how much money you can spend. Others have pointed out some good ideas like newspapers, radio, TV, signs, etc. But-which radio station? A Christian station is fine but many of those listening to Christian radio are already Christian. A station that is respectful but not necessarily Christian may be a better choice. The same thing goes for TV and newspapers. Signs are available and can be read by everybody. An outreach that we used was "door hangers" We had a Christian message on one side of the door hanger and an invitation to come to our church with service times etc. on the other side. The door hangers are simply placed over the door knob. If the door knob is made… [cont.]

Have you not heard of Billy Graham, DL Moody, Billy Sunday, Greg Laurie, etc., etc. These men and more are wonderful vessels of God and thanks to them, the Bible can reach to areas of the world that truly need the Gospel to be heard :}

What method of evangelism do you find least objectionable?
Q. Yesterday, the question of whether it's a sin not to SPAM non-believers [I'd wondered how all that was getting into my SPAM filter]: "Is not re-posting "God" bulletins on myspace really denying Him?" Today scotishbob posted this: "You might want to be a bit of research of the validity of species evolving from another species before reading about Darwin's theory. "Recent discoveries using DNA have shown that not a single species has evolved from another." A websearch will tell you how scotishbob's assertion compares to what's actually been found about evolution through DNA research. It will also show you the gospel site authority he didn't cite in his post. So the question is intended to assist Christians in evangelism. … [cont.]

A. I also appreciate the laughs. Good question, too. But seriously, there's only one way that evangelism ever had any effect on me, and that was from those who basically shut up about their beliefs and just lived them. There have been a couple of kinds of people who really got my attention just by the way they lived their lives. Maybe that doesn't fit into the definition of "evangelism", but it works as a way to stimulate my curiosity. Sometimes it was like pulling teeth to get these people to explain why they lived that way... a few of them didn't know, they just were brought up that way and didn't question it... others knew and were happy to elaborate... others were so wary of doing any evangelization that they had to be assured of my… [cont.]

Pressured to choose between two heinous evils which one would you choose - Commercial evangelism or robbery?
Q. Details! By commercial evangelism I mean the profession practiced by blessings brokers who claim and act as agents to God tarnishing the image of Jesus Christ and Christianity. Commercial evangelism thrives on returns derived from looting the innocent, illiterate and ignorant laity. Many ROBED persons in Christian hierarchy act as pimps to them. Robbery is another name for plain looting using intimidation and force if called for. I am a devout Christian.

Why is the receiving end of evangelism?
Q. so terrible for atheists? A lot of times on R&S I hear atheists complaining about how terrible someone sincerely sharing their faith with them is. (not all but some) Don't you think you're making a huge deal out of something very small? Evangelism has zero impact on your life at all, what's so terrible about someone loving you so much they want to save your soul? Thanks in advance, don't dog me for generalizing it's impossible for me to know everyone of you.
Asked by BeautifulFeet - Mon Apr 20 00:41:41 2009 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think it's for a couple reasons why Atheists get annoyed. First of all, Atheists, like most people, just want to be left alone. They don't knock on peoples doors at dinnertime or send out pamphlets extolling their philosophies. And in the United States at least, almost every street corner has a church in every town, large or small. An Atheist couldn't escape churches if we wanted to. So if we ever did feel the need to find religion, its there, waiting for us. Also, in the society of the United States, scripture is also nearby. Bibles abound, scripture is online. No one really needs to be preached to. Almost everyone in the U.S. and probably most of the world has at least a passing familiarity with Christianity, its very… [cont.]

What parallels does Paul's evangelism strategy, as seen in the record of his missionary journeys.?
Q. Also might be in mission work today? How could we adapt Paul's techniques?
Asked by trinistock2k - Fri Jun 12 19:59:30 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Paul was an educated diplomat. He used his training very effectively in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. The only way to match his strategy would be to get a college education in sociology with emphasis on being a diplomat. Learn what it takes to be an Ambassador for your government and then use those skills for Christ sake.

street preachers, when evangelism, have you ever allowed yourself to become the student and not the teacher?
Q. A close mind is a terrible thing to have when ministering to the lost. If your mind is close off to the world, than it's impossible for you to ever become a student if you are always teaching and never learning. Jesus himself was a servant, so this shows that he did not always preach or teach, but he allowed those around him to teach him as well.

A. In order to teach or preach one must be teachable. Humility is good because it means you (do not know everything) and you are still learning. As we all are.

As non christians should we expect Christian's evangelism efforts to increase in intensity if they began to?
Q. believe that they are losing numbers and power in the USA? Will their harassment of those who don't believe as they do increase? I know that in this area where a fundy cult has a lot of power they had a knee-jerk reaction to the election of our first black president of a door to door conversion campaign that just calmed down a few weeks ago. Now with the health care debate going on in congress it sounds like the door to doors are gonna start up again. Any opinions about this???
Asked by Praire Crone - Mon Jul 20 09:57:43 2009 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Dear PC, Yes, I think so. It is the same as the death rattle you see in a dying person, trying to avoid the inevitable. Death will come to those who preach that their way is the only way, and since this principle is a ramrod up the spines of the Fundy mentality, that inflexibility, that strict adherence to literal dogmatic interpretation of their book, all these things will eventually be their undoing and they will fall, crashing to Earth and their cult will die of the poisons of their own making. But they will fight it tooth and nail, so in areas where they still hold some strength, like yours, they will cling to their vanishing power and fight their end. It won't do any good. The end of their world is coming and not a moment too… [cont.]
